Signature Surgical Arts and Med Spa offers facelifts for the residents of greater Grand Rapids and Holland, Grandville, or Grand Haven, Michigan and the surrounding communities.

Your personality really shines through in your smile and eyes. However, lines, creases, wrinkles, and sagging skin can make people think that you are sad, angry, stressed, and tired. A facelift can address these and many other problems on your face and neck.

What is a Facelift?

So many factors conspire to make the face age faster than other parts of the body. Apart from the effects of time and the inevitable gravitational pull, the face is often exposed to the sun, contributing to sun damage and the formation of deep wrinkles. Another effect of aging on the face is the loss of volume or fullness, a factor usually associated with youth. One method for restoring a youthful appearance is through a facelift, a procedure that eliminates the wrinkles in the face and tightens the loose, sagging skin.

A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic procedure used to reduce the signs of aging. Facelifts have come a long way from the old days when the results appeared too tight and artificial. With the new facelift techniques, you can get a youthful looking face with a simple surgical procedure. If you want to reduce the signs of aging and remove sagging skin, a facelift may be an option for you. A facelift is an effective and fast way to tighten your skin and rejuvenate the overall appearance of your face.

A facelift may be a good option for you when you have:

  • Sagging skin on your face
  • Creases below the eyes
  • Creases around the nose and mouth
  • Lost muscle tone in the face
  • Loose skin on your face
  • Facelift Procedure

One of the most common concerns among our patients are the scars that remain after a facelift procedure. Dr. Stubbs carefully places the incisions so that the scar is not easily seen after you heal. The incision location depends on the type and extent of the facelift that Dr. Stubbs performs. In all cases, however, Dr. Stubbs places the incisions along the hairline or in the natural skin creases, such as those around the front of your ear. Once the incision is made, Dr. Stubbs removes excess fat and skin. He may also reposition fat and tighten the facial muscles.

Benefits of a Facelift

A facelift addresses many of the most common signs of aging on your face and neck:

  • Sagging skin
  • Deep creases below your eyes and around your mouth
  • Excess fatty deposits
  • Facelift Recovery

Once your surgery is finished, a bandage is placed around your face to reduce swelling and bruising. Swelling and bruising is normal and can take a few days to a week to resolve. Your face may feel tight and sore after the facelift. You can help to reduce the pain and discomfort with medication. You should be able to wash your hair within two days after the surgery and go back to work within a few weeks.

Facelift Consultation

When you come in for a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Stubbs, he will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your facial bone structure, skin texture, skin thickness, underlying skin structure and other necessary examinations. Based on the outcome of this assessment, he will decide the best method to approach your facelift. It is beneficial to you to see a Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon who is trained regarding the full anatomy of the face, and can strategically plan the best course of action for your facelift.
